Maraschino Cherry Shortbread Christmas Cookies
Always the first to disappear from the holiday cookie tray! These buttery, tender shortbread cookies are studded with sweet, jewel-like maraschino cherries and topped with a pretty pink drizzle. They’re as festive to look at as they are irresistible to eat.
Ingredients
For the Cookies:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

½ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp almond extract (optional but delicious!)

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

¼ tsp salt

½ cup finely chopped maraschino cherries, patted very dry

2-3 tbsp maraschino cherry juice (from the jar)
For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar
-
2–3 tbsp maraschino cherry juice

½ tsp vanilla or almond extract
-
Optional: sprinkles or extra finely chopped cherries for topping
