Our recipe for shortbread bells! Grandma always made it this way.
1. Mix all the ingredients and knead into a pliable dough. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for half an hour.
2. Roll out the dough, then cut it into strips, then into diamond shapes. Cut a hole in the center and fold one end over. This will create a small ribbon shape for each piece of dough.
3. Fry in hot oil on both sides until golden brown.
4. Transfer to a napkin-lined bowl and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
5. You can serve it with chocolate sauce or jam, but the dough is also delicious on its own.
